As arguably one of the best made games of all time, Super Mario Galaxy must have one of the best video game soundtracks I’ve ever had the pleasure to hear. This particular song is a remix of an old school Super Mario 64 track, Bowser Star Reactor just pumps you up for the battle ahead. Tune in, enjoy.

Its that time of the week again, and this time, I bring you a song from the Streets of Rage Remake. In case you haven’t heard of us talk about it on the podcast, this is a completely redone version of Streets of Rage, and by far, my favorite version. Bomber Games did something completely ludicrous, and they aren’t even done with the project yet. Currently in the works are online play, standard bugfixes, cheats, and a ‘store’ where you can buy game cutscenes. I can’t stress enough how much I love this game. The game starts as a standard physics simulator, but then quickly tries to teach you something. The meaning of life? Who knows… MOM would. But it sure is tasty.

Ok, this is one of my favorite Zelda song’s of all time. Its catchy, melodic, and salsa. Yes. Salsa. Its a wonderful example of a stereotypical desert theme and a completely batshit crazy example of a Zelda song. Its so god-damned different from the rest of the music in the entire series that it absolutely deserved a plug.

What’s the first thing you think of when I say “Download and Play”? Bad things I assume. Whether its the activation fiasco that occurred during the launch of Half-Life 2 or the horrible DRM associated with any Direct2Drive purchase, chances are, like me, you’ve given up on online purchases and stick to physical disks. Whether its DRM, the lack of service, the general disregard of support, or just not having a badass box to place atop your desk, most people have given up on digital downloads, and I don’t blame them.

But then, out of fucking nowhere, I find GOG. No… not God… GOG. Good Old Games.

Good Old Games is a website centered around the user experience. Never before have I paid so little for a game (well… two) and received so much. I went onto the website, created an account, and then proceeded to buy the Fallout Bundle. This pack (for the ever so special price of $10) contained Fallout 1 and Fallout 2 with no DRM, and completely repacked to work just fine with XP/Vista computers.

One of the huge problems with playing the older games is that most of the time, the computer you’re using to play the game is just too damn new, too damn different, or too damn fast to run the damn things correctly. Damn. GoG allows you to skip all the wonders of configuring, scraping around for old hardware, and scouring the internet for patches to get your oldy-time favorites to work with that shiny new box of yours, and it just works. You get a really simple, absolutely wonderful, double-click install to run, but the fun doesn’t stop there.

Under the game download link, there’s a little section called “Additional Content” and is by far the best part of the site. The Fallout series makes the most of this section, more than other games they offer, but by no means are you being ripped of in any way. I have the option to download, for both Fallout 1 and Fallout 2:

Alright, for today I couldn’t just pick one tune… your ears shall feast on only two of the amazing soundtrack that is Super Mario Galaxy. Amazing tunes, one, original and amazing, the other, classic, remixed, and nostalgic. Enjoy this one, and if you have the means, I highly suggest this game.

The Metal Gear franchise isn’t famous for its intense score, but nothing gets me into a game more than an epic soundtrack. This is the theme of MGS3. While not my favorite in the series, it was this song that made the trailer for me. Nothing else at the time was quite as epic and mind-blowing. Give it up for the Theme of Metal Gear Solid 3!

Here is an awesome song from chthonic (Also known as Ben Briggs) of OC Remix fame. The crew over there took on the challenge of remixing the best of Kirby and by God have they done a smash-up job! Here is one of my personal favorites! Good God.. I need to play this game right now…

Here is one of the most hardcore songs you could find in a videogame. The Castlevania games have always had memorable music, but this takes the cake. Bloody Tears is a fine song on its own, but this rock mix takes it to a different plane of reality. Enjoy this one, I highly suggest playing Stepmania to this song.
