Canabalt came out a good while in the past, like a month – which in video game years was forever ago. But I just got an iPod Touch about a week ago and I bought it so now I want to talk about it, and thanks to Tom’s wonderful little website I can! Canabalt is both a freeware game for PC and a three dollar iPod App and you probably would wonder, “Why pay for something you can get for free?” A few reasons:
1. It’s a lot of fun on the go.
2. It’s provided me with countless hours of entertainment.
3. I love to support the guys who’ve made it, and this is a way that everybody wins!
Canabalt is a great and addicting game, partially because the premise is extremely simple yet brilliant: Run really fast across roof tops without falling or crashing into something. Add the most awesome music to exhilarate the player and you have a masterpiece. There’s no end to Canabalt, but that’s one of the reasons it should be so charming (especially to an old-school crowd). It’s run as far as you can before dying, then see if you can beat that. Of the three brilliant games I’ve bought so far for the iPod I’ve been going back to this one over and over the most often. For a game with one button (“jump”) that’s a really good sign.
So if you have a computer or an iPod Touch/iPhone and haven’t played/bought/donated to the makers of this game than you should right now, because it’s brilliant!
Go!
Now!

I love Canabalt!!! One of my favorite PC time-wasters!
