Chrono Trigger is one of the many staple RPGs of the SNES Generation. It’s complex story, unique battle system, and memorable characters make it one of the best RPG’s to date. Chrono Trigger doesn’t rely on random battle events, even on the overworld map. In this game, you will be able to see the enemies (barring a few surprises) you could encounter, and choose to avoid them if you wish.
Chrono Trigger starts you off on your way to the millennium festival. From here, you can take part in minigames, chatter with townsfolk, and just enjoy the party. But this is all brought to an end very quickly when a certain girl decides to run you over.
The game’s difficulty is a slight bit harder than other RPG’s in this area, which could leave some players stuck later in the game. Thankfully, there isn’t any mindless grinding to be had here, Chrono Trigger’s boss fights are more about technique and hitting weak spots with the right attacks than about number crunching. At one point fairly early in the game, a court trial takes place, and your actions at the very begginning of the game determines the outcome of the case.
